Recently D&S Engineering completed a unique project at Associated Battery Manufacturers (ABM), Kampala Road, Nairobi. The system involved automation of the factory cooling system by controlling water flow rates, to ensure optimum battery charging temperatures and charging rates for defect free battery production. The cooling system was controlled from a single highly smart control panel that varied flow rates to the various battery tubs intelligently based on different system characteristics.
A leading national polytechnic needed to replace its old generator that ws unreliable and frequently broke down. After inviting bids for the project, the client settled on D&S to provide a standby generator.
The client benefited frpm prompt and professional installation. The generator is covered under a 2 year warranty is covered by a maintenance contract which includes 24/7 on call response.
D & S provided supplied, installed and commissioned a 500KVA Cummins generator to provide emergency power backup service to the health institution. The genset will back up the entire institution and will go along way in ensuring that people access critical health care even in times of no supply from the power utility company. This is a fruit processing plant in Makueni County; a flagship project aimed at value addition of locally produced fruits to guarantee farmers high prices for their produce and to eliminate middle men who have been exploiting them.
The plant is located at Kalamba in Nzaui Sub County has a capacity to process five metric tonnes of mangoes and produce 3,000 litres of puree (mango juice) per hour. Besides mangoes, the plant is also able process paw paws, avocadoes and tomatoes.
Davis & Shirtliff successfully supplied, installed and commissioned 313kVA Prime Rated Cummins generator, 300kVA Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) to protect Plant equipment against utility power voltage surges and remote monitoring and control solution to enable both the Factory Engineers as well as Davis & Shirtliff Field Service Teams to be able to monitor the operation of the equipment.
