#ImprovingLives

Giving back to local communities has been a commitment of Davis & Shirtliff since its founding in 1946...

In a country where malnutrition remains a pressing issue, promoting proper nutrition among children and vulnerable populations is vital. Nutrition interventions can have long-term positive effects on productivity, economic growth, and breaking the cycle of poverty in Kenya.

Lamu Boys Secondary School is a publicly funded school in Kenya’s highly popular coastal town with an enrollment of 350 pupils. The improving Lives initiative has recently implemented a drip irrigation project at no cost to the school. By leveraging the ¼ acre irrigation system, the school will be able to use a small amount of water to farm and grow enough food to supplement the school’s feeding program.  During the handover ceremony, the school noted that beyond benefiting the school, this endeavor promises a broader positive impact on the local community.
