LAMU WATER AND SEWERAGE COMPANY (LAWASCO) LTD PROJECT FOR Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Solar Pumping Set & 90KW SOLAR POWER GENERATION FOR SOLARISATION OF EXISTING REVERSE OSMOSIS PLANT Project Brief:

D&S had had earlier engagement with the client by supplying and installing 2No. Sea Water Reverse Osmosis systems at Kiunga and Kizingitini Villages in Lamu County. The RO Systems had been running on generator (for Kiunga) and Generator and KPLC (Kizingitini). In order to save on the cost of electricity and fuel for generators, the client decided to have the RO systems run on solar. It is at this point the client re-engaged D&S albeit through competitive bidding to supply the solar power to run the RO systems. The project, valued at KES.30 Million is split into two separate contracts of Kes. 15M each for Kiunga and Kizingitini Villages. The major component of the works is to supply solar power for the RO systems and a minor component of supplying and installing a solar powered borehole pump. The solarisation of the RO systems at each site will require a total of 200No. 330w Dayliff solar modules, 48No. 2500AH 2v Champion batteries, Victron inverters and charge controllers as well as the newly adopted Dayliff light gauge steel solar support structures. The solar panels for both sites have been installed with the battery and inverter installations currently underway at Kiunga and later next week the same to be done for Kizingitini. The works expected to be completed Mid-April if all goes well.
