
Every year is the same. A slow build up to Christmas then the new year sprints away, already two months down the road! As usual there has been much activity at D&S, the focus of the early months being finalizing preparations for the year ahead and there are many actions planned.
One very significant initiative has been creation of a Pay-as-you-go platform for funding various products, particularly solar pumps. This initiative has been developed with UK based partners 4R Digital and with transformational support from the Shell Foundation, the project including establishment of a separate specialized funding entity, Daylipa Ltd, to provide finance and management for the credit facilities. Already a number of installations have been completed and we see this as a significant future business activity supporting the installation of our wide product portfolio.
A particular focus for D&S is the introduction of new products and a number of important developments are in hand, especially in the Energy division with an increased range of lithium batteries and e-generators, new DC inverters and expanded solar pumping options. There are also innovations in LPG powered engine pumps and generators, chemical products, swimming pool equipment and irrigation accessories as well as some diversification including air compressors and industrial floor cleaners. The objective is to continue expansion of the Dayliff portfolio providing a comprehensive range of water and energy solutions for our customers available through our wide network of branches and stockists.
Another area where there's been particular progress recently is in our various Digital activities both in terms of systems and market communication. Under GM Desmond Rao we have a team of 25 IT specialists who have developed several very innovative platforms including real-time financial information, online ordering and warehouse management. We also have excellent digital customer information interfaces including an interactive website and the recently updated FLO App for customer engagement that provides detailed product information and is an on-line ordering platform developed by our online manager Ken Muturi and his team. Our various digital platforms are world class and enable us to provide the highest levels of customer service.
These wide-ranging initiatives certainly demonstrate application of our 'Altiora Peto' value and I look forward to another year of progress for the D&S Group.
