EDI Purifier

The Dayliff EDI purifier is a packaged plant for treating low salinity water to produce ultra-pure water for use in applications such as pharmaceutical industries, dialysis machines, laboratories, electronics manufacture and food processing. At the heart of the system is the Iontech EDI module that generates mixed-bed quality deionized water through electro-deionization technology to consistently deliver maximum reliability without regeneration downtime. The Dayliff EDI systems is a suitable alternative to the conventional cationic/anionic resin-based demineralization plants for downstream purification of reverse osmosis permeate water at relatively lower operational costs.

The units come skid-mounted complete with a low pressure pump, plumbing, controls and instrumentation for ease of installation and water quality monitoring. EDI technology uses basic electrolysis principles to selectively remove dissolved ions thereby producing ultrapure water. Continuous self-regeneration of the module ensures limited interruption in the purification process. The technology uses DC power and is equipped with selective cathode-anode chambers to remove cations and anions in the feed water respectively and produces 2 streams as follows:

  • Ultrapure (permeate) water that contains less than 1% of dissolved minerals.
  • The concentrate (reject) water that contains the rejected dissolved ions. This stream can be recycled back to the RO feed water to improve overall RO/EDI system recovery.

Particular features include:

  • Chemical free operation
  • Self-regeration of modules
  • High exchange capacity with recover rates with of up to 98%
  • Double O-ring seals that guarantee leak-free operation
  • Superior electrical isolation and low electrical resistance for effective electrolysis process
  • Continuous operation with minimal downtime
  • Wide range of temperature and pH operation

The Dayliff EDI purifiers is recommended for indoor installation with no direct sunlight to ensure sustainable operation of the system.
