#ImprovingLives

Giving back to local communities has been a commitment of Davis & Shirtliff since its founding in 1946...

Lorna Laboso is a girl’s secondary school in Bomet County. The school has an enrollment of 1,000 pupils and is neighboured by Ngariet Boys School which has enrolled 500 pupils.

The schools’ monthly cost of electricity was KES 50,000 and in addition to this, the power supply to the school is unreliable. Through the D&S #ImprovingLives Initiative, the school’s 5.5kW mains-powered borehole pump was converted to solar-powered. The completion of this project has not only benefited the two secondary schools, but a neighboring primary school, and the community as well. During the very colorful commissioning ceremony, all three schools and their heads were in attendance. Gratitude was expressed by the school heads and community representatives alike.
