Samburu's Archers Post

Over 300 kilometers from Kenya’s capital city, Archers post is a settlement in Samburu County, home to the Samburu people. Through the Isiolo Branch Manager, Paul Muchiri, the D&S CSR program identified a stalled community water project that was in great need of rehabilitation.

The water project, serving a large population of 14,520 beneficiaries, broke down as a result of heavy rains which destroyed their infrastructure. During the commissioning ceremony, local school heads, narrated the numerous difficulties that their students often face – caused by the lack of water. To promote access to safe and adequate water for livelihoods, Davis and Shirtliff partnered with the Nawiri Water Project in the installation of a solar powered borehole pump. As a result of this partnership, the community now has access to over 100,000 litres of water per day, which has certainly alleviated a substantial portion of their water troubles. During the handing over ceremonies, several local administrators, as well as several school heads, gave their gratitude to Davis and Shirtliff and the Nawiri Water Project, for this bold initiative.
