Davis & Shirtliff Tanzania wishes to recruit a qualified Tax and Compliance Accountant to join its team at the Head Office in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and will be responsible for, among other duties: 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Be the primary liaison with statutory authorities on audits, reconciliations, tax and related compliance issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the statutory authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and file VAT, WHT, Income tax and other tax and statutory returns in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct proactive tax health-checks.
  • Maintain compliance schedules, oversee processing and custody of tax and other statutory-related entries, records and supporting documents.
  • Monitor new legislation and ensure timely compliance with these across the business.
  • Implement effective tax-planning measures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum upper Second-Class Honours degree in commerce, economics, or a related field.
  • Fully qualified CPA(T) or ACCA in good professional standing.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a tax advisory firm, FMCG company, manufacturing sector, or similar high-compliance sector, with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, taxation laws and compliance risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience in dealing with tax authorities and statutory bodies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
