The Davis & Shirtliff Group, founded in 1946, is the region’s leading supplier of water and energy solutions. The Group is seeking to recruit a Tax and Compliance Accountant based at its Nairobi Head Office. The successful candidate will report to the Tax and Compliance Manager and will be responsible for, among other duties:
Roles and Responsibilities
- Be the primary liaison with revenue authorities on audits, tax and related compliance issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the statutory authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and file VAT, CIT and other tax and statutory returns in compliance with regulations.
- Conduct proactive tax health-checks for the Group.
- Oversee processing and custody of tax related entries, records and supporting documents.
- Monitor new legislation and ensure timely compliance with these across the business.
- Implement effective tax-planning measures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum upper Second-Class Honours degree in commerce, Economics or a related field.
- Fully qualified CPA(K) or ACCA in good professional standing.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a tax advisory firm, FMCG company, manufacturing sector, or similar high-compliance sector, with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, taxation laws and compliance risk management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in dealing with tax authorities and statutory bodies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Qualification in law will be an added advantage.
