Irrigation System
In response to the need for an efficient and reliable lawn irrigation system, D&S has undertaken an exciting project to create an automated landscape irrigation system for the official residence of a prominent politician. This project involves several essential components that work in harmony to ensure optimal watering and maintenance of the landscape.

Irrigation Pumpset

At the heart of the system lies the Dayliff DE50-20 pump, equipped with an 18.5kw motor. This pump system operates singularly, with a capacity of 50m³ per hour at a total dynamic head of 60m. To ensure continuous water supply, the pump is connected to four 24,000-liter tanks, which are replenished using a borehole, city council water, and water bowsers. The pump's size is meticulously chosen to meet the highest demand zone, providing the required flow at the necessary minimum pressure. Mounted on a base plate and equipped with a suction and delivery assembly, the pump is also fitted with a dry run float switch, preventing it from running when the water tanks are empty.

Main Distribution Pipes

To efficiently supply water to the entire system and its individual irrigation zones, 110mm main pipes are utilized. These main pipes then branch out into 63mm lateral lines, all controlled by 3" solenoid valves. For their durability, ease of handling, and extended lifespan, High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes with pressure ratings of 10 bar for the mainline and 8 bar for the laterals have been preferred.

Hunter ICV Solenoid Valves

To facilitate precise control of water flow, ten Hunter ICV solenoid valves have been strategically installed across the field. The wiring for these valves is centralized, connecting them to the irrigation controller through 2.5mm X 2 core armoured cable.

Hunter Rotors

Hunter PGP, PGJ, and PS Ultra sprinklers have been carefully selected to ensure even water distribution across all zones. Renowned for their high application efficiency and uniformity, Hunter sprinklers prove to be an excellent choice for this landscape irrigation system. Each sprinkler type operates within specific design parameters, such as pressure, radius, flow rate, and precipitation, allowing for optimal watering based on the unique needs of each area.

Irrigation Controller

The backbone of the automated system, the Hunter irrigation controller, takes charge of the watering schedule for the entire field. Its programming allows for two solenoids to run simultaneously at specific times and durations for each irrigation zone. This intelligent scheduling ensures that each zone receives adequate watering without putting undue strain on the system or wasting water.

The implementation of this automated landscape irrigation system for the Prominent Politician's official residence in Karen showcases the cutting-edge technology and precision engineering of D&S.
