The Davis & Shirtliff Group, founded in 1946, is the region’s leading supplier of water and energy solutions. Headquartered in Kenya, the Group operates through a network of branches and subsidiaries across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Somalia, Zimbabwe, DRC and Burundi and employing over 1,000 highly trained professionals. 

The Group is seeking to recruit a van/truck driver based at it’s Nairobi Head Office. The successful candidate will report to the Logistics Manager and will be responsible for, among other duties:

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe delivery of equipment and goods.
  • Verify the accuracy of items before departure and upon delivery.
  • Handle unexpected situations such as roadblocks and vehicle breakdowns.
  • Follow road safety guidelines.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including regular inspections, oil changes, and maintaining accurate delivery records.
  • Plan delivery routes and schedules in coordination with the logistics team to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment and goods during transit to prevent damage.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships by providing efficient, reliable, and courteous service.
  • Ensure efficient route planning to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
  • Operate the vehicle in an efficient and effective manner while reporting any technical issues promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of all deliveries, including delivery times, locations, and items delivered.
  • Load and unload equipment and goods at event venues, warehouses, and client locations using appropriate equipment.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure proper inventory handling and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • KCSE Certificate; additional education or certification in logistics or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • At least 5 years of experience driving commercial vehicles, preferably in the logistics sector.
  • Experience in regulated warehouse operations will be an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.
