The Upper Manza Community Based Organization has set up a water and sanitation project which serves over 10,000 residents in Machakos County.

The CBO runs two high-yielding boreholes to be able to meet the demand of their customer base. Due to the increased rates, power bills have been extraordinarily high, affecting pump running costs as well as other operations of the organization. Late in 2023, the long-running, highly organized project was at the threat of discontinuing their services to the community as a result of these costs.

Davis & Shirtliff through their #ImprovingLives initiative, implemented a solarization of a 7.5kW borehole in a joint effort with Upper Manza Community Based Organization. This initiative not only lowers operational costs but also guarantees a constant and efficient water supply for the Upper Manza Community. As a testament to the firm’s commitment service standards, over 10,000 residents in Machakos County will now have access to water!
