#ImprovingLives

Giving back to local communities has been a commitment of Davis & Shirtliff since its founding in 1946...

The children at Engedi Childrens Home, Kitengela are a cheerful bunch. Their faces beam with such bright smiles for their caregivers, it is obvious that they are overflowing with love. Nothing about their demeanor portrays the tough deck of cards that life has dealt them.

Engedi Children’s home takes care of 28 children, all with severe cases of cerebral palsy. Some of them, have 95% brain damage. Yet all of them can afford to smile. It was a sober moment amongst Davis & Shirtliff staffers, as they attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to commission the donation of a 300l Ultrasun solar hot water system. With the solar water heaters, the children now enjoy daily baths and some physiotherapy when possible. Hot water may seem like a luxury to most, but to the cheerful bunch at Engedi Children’s Home, their lives have truly been impacted. The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by members of the CSR Committee, as well as the Kitengela Branch, led by manager, Amos Mutunga.
