Davis & Shirtliff Uganda is seeking to recruit a Tax and Compliance Accountant based at its Head Office. The successful candidate will report to the Finance manager and will be responsible for, among other duties:

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Be the primary liaison with revenue authorities on audits, tax and related compliance issues.
  • Prepare and file VAT, CIT, and other tax statutory returns in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct proactive tax health-checks.
  • Oversee processing and custody of tax related entries, records and supporting documents.
  • Monitor new legislation and ensure timely compliance with these across the business.
  • Implement effective tax-planning measures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum upper Second-Class Honours degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or a related field.
  • Fully qualified CPA(U) or ACCA in good professional standing.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a tax advisory firm, FMCG company, manufacturing sector, or similar high-compliance sector, with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, taxation laws and compliance risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience in dealing with tax authorities and statutory bodies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Qualification in law will be an added advantage.
