Davis & Shirtliff Garissa under Branch Manager Leonard Njiru have successfully installed 2 borehole pumps for remote Kamuthe and Kadakso communities in Daadab Sub-county, Garissa County. Residents of the communities, who have been struck by severe water shortages, will now enjoy constant water supply. The project was funded by Islamic Relief.
These areas are largely semi-arid whose population is largely pastoralists with livestock keeping serving as the major source of livelihoods. The current drought has ravaged the areas with most members of the community losing their animals to the drought further deepening the vulnerabilities of the community and especially women who a lot of the times are left behind as men migrate in search of pasture and water.
The two boreholes are expected to greatly improve the lives of members of the community who will now enjoy constant water supply.
