The Davis & Shirtliff Group is the leading supplier of Water and Energy solutions in the region. The Group is Kenyan based and operates through a network of Kenyan branches as well as regional subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. The company has a total complement of over 800 highly trained and professional staff spread across the region and seeks to fill the position of Sales Engineer to support clients in Lusaka, Zambia.

The successful candidate will be based in Lusaka branch and will report to the Branch Manager. They will be charged with the following responsibilities;

  • Manage the sales pipeline by identifying new business opportunities, nurturing leads, and converting prospects into long-term customers
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by understanding their unique needs and providing tailored technical solutions
  • Prepare detailed quotations and proposals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in processing sales orders and responding to customer enquiries
  • Provide in-field technical support, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimising our products to deliver superior performance for clients
  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure alignment of strategies and customer support goals
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing exhibitions, promotions, open days, and trade fairs focused on select target customers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related technical field
  • A self-starter, energetic and go-getter who can work without close supervision.
  • Sales skills including prospecting, forecasting, pitching and presenting.
  • Experience developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Integrity, hard work ethic and good presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with an array of cross-functional teams across the company and ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization.
  • A driver's license, basic computer skills
  • Experience in technical sales will be an added advantage

Critical Competencies

  • High integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate in English will be added advantage.
