The Davis & Shirtliff Group, founded in 1946, is the region’s leading supplier of water and energy solutions. Headquartered in Kenya, the Group operates through a network of branches and subsidiaries across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Somalia, Zimbabwe, DRC and Burundi and employing over 1,000 highly trained professionals. The Group is seeking to recruit Intern Sales Engineers based at its Harare, Zimbabwe Office. The successful candidate will report to the Country Managing Director and will be responsible for, among other duties:

Roles and Responsibilities
Under guidance, the incumbent will be required to:

  • Uphold and demonstrate core organizational ethics and values.
  • Conduct market and customer needs analysis to ensure that all sales target are met
  • Conceptualise new and innovative strategies to achieve sales targets
  • Follow up on new sales leads and build detailed sales pipeline with prospective values
  • Analyse / recognise potential growth opportunities in the market
  • Engage with appointed distributors and manage channel sales
  • Increase footprint and customer base for the brand in specified area of responsibility
  • Actively increase opportunity pipeline for monthly, quarterly and annual sales and maintain a close rate equal to peers/ as per target
  • Create and manage customer value proposition plans for existing and new customers
  • Keep abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities
  • Conduct sales activities and extracts value from customer through the use of company tools and training provided
  • Communicate with clients consistently to provide updates on account status
  • Monitor overdue balances and support credit control efforts to ensure alignment with corporate financial policies.

Technical Service & Customer Complaint Handling:

  • Provide on-site technical support to customers, troubleshoot and resolve customer complaints, diagnose the problems and identify solutions ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Drive proactive marketing of advantage services to key Customers & internal Stakeholders
  • Maintain records - customer technical visits, reports, complaint resolutions, product qualifications & customer interactions
  • Provide technical advice and solutions on product and brand training with both internal and external customers when required
  • ∙Ensure compliance to customer complaints handling process and resolutions to quality issues as per customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (minimum of Upper Second-Class Honours).
  • Holder of a valid driving license, with at least 12 months driving experience.
  • Some experience in technical sales, field application engineering, or business development will be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ERP systems.
