The D&S tradition of Founders Day, which marks the Company's establishment in 1946 by Eddie Davis and Dick Shirtliff, has been celebrated across the Group with a series of family-inclusive staff events and CSR activities with this years' theme being tree planting.
The D&S HO event, with over 300 participants, revisited Karura Forest in Nairobi to plant indigenous trees and enjoy a program of exercises and games. As usual, the Chairman Alec Davis and CEO David Gatende gave addresses and recognized Milestone Service Award winners as well as the Grundfos Fellowship Awards.
The Eastern, Western and Coast clusters arranged their own tree plantings and lunches at Ol Donyo Sabuk, Menengai Crater and Tudor Water Sports respectively. Meanwhile D&S Uganda planted trees and luncheoned at Mabiro Forest, D&S Tanzania donated school desks and equipment to Nyantira Mennonite Academy and D&S Zambia did a 10km fundraising walk for SOS Children's Village and splatted each other at paintball! Elsewhere D&S Rwanda made a CSR donation and visited the Genocide Centre, D&S South Sudan did litter picking on the banks of the Nile and D&S DRC visited Bumi Orphanage and donated foodstuffs.
