Case Study : Solar Tank Storage vs Batteries

This presentation outlines the different options for energy storage in solar pumping – batteries vs tanks. The presentation demonstrates the following points:-

  1. Relying on batteries to pump water overnight introduces cost and complexity to a solution.
  2. Batteries are heavy, expensive, difficult to transport and dispose of and have a limited (3 - 5 year typically) life.
  3. Storing water in an elevated tank is efficient and means water is always available.

The case study was done by Eng. Philip Holi.
